FOOL 4 U

Hi there friends.  Welcome to my blog.  I have one more card for you tonight before I call it quits.  This one is a Valentine's card, just a little different.  Most cards  you find for this holiday use shades of red, pink, purple, and the basic white.  I wanted something a little different.  I think I am getting tired of the standard colors for Valentine's Day.  My husband and I don't celebrate it because we both feel it's just a money making holiday.  We express our love all year and don't need one specific day to do so.  I don't like flowers.  To me, it's pointless to spend all that money on roses when they are just going to die in a few days anyway.  I don't really like chocolate and I am allergic to jewelery.  Doesn't leave much choice for dear old hubby does it?  So, when he sees something through out the year related to my card making and scrap booking that he thinks I might like, he picks it up.   I do the same for him.  He's going next week to buy himself a 48" HDTV.  The meaning for Valentine's Day for us is more about the best gift of love ever.  The meaning of the CROSS!  That's what we celebrate on Feb. 14th.

So, on to the card and off my soap box.  :)  I used a Dustin Pike image for this card.  I just love, love, love the dragons.  I chose this cute little guy dressed as the Court Jester.  I used bright oranges, yellows and blues for his outfit.  I coordinated the card stock with the colors I used to color in the image.

As you can tell, I'm not too good at taking straight pictures.  I used Daffodil Delight card stock from SU for the card base.  The DP is from DCWV.  I matted the image panel on turquoise and orange from Recollections.  I found these cute orange flowers at Michael's in the dollar bin last year.  They are from Studio 118, so I would think they are Michael's brand.  They came in a package of 28 different sized flowers and 12 orange gems.  The yellow and green flower is from Recollections.  I used my glitter gel pens to color in the necklaces he is holding.  I printed off the sentiment from my word processor program and matted it on the same turquoise and orange.  I used pop dots for the sentiment.  I always finish the inside of my cards and for this one, there are layers of turquoise, orange, green and white.

Thanks so much for stickin' with me tonight.  I will be back tomorrow with a few more cards.  God bless

  2. Dustin has created a name for himself... and the dragon he named Dudley. He may be foolish looking, but you've done an amazing job dressing him for a wonderful Valentine's card. Thanks for joining us at "Pike's Playground."
