Sassy Studio Designs at PCP

Howdy y'all.  I have a card for y'all today that uses the freebie image from Sassy Studio over at Paper Craft Planet.  If you play along, you get the image for free, plus a chance to win more.

This image takes us back to the 50's...don't ya just love those poodle skirts, saddle shoes and bobby socks??

Here's the card front.  I colored the image with my colored pencils and OMS.  I used three different patterned papers from DCWV and lots of flowers from Recollections.  I even added a black feather just for the heck of it.  The zebra print flap actually tucks in behind the image and keeps the card closed.

This is what it looks like open.  You have space to write a message and the strip of black card stock on the standing up part is actually a gift card holder, or you could just throw some money in it..lol.

I got the idea for this card from a card that I received from a friend of mine.  The difference is the orientation of the card.  The one I received opens from the side instead of the top.

I hope y'all enjoyed your visit today and I hope to see y'all soon.  God bless.

Walking Beside You

Happy Tuesday everyone.  It's been a while since I have posted.  I've been pretty busy lately.  Thanks for stopping in to see what I have for y'all today.

The card for today uses a Digi Darla image.  I colored it with colored pencils and Sakura Glitter pens.

I made a standard A2 size card this time.  The card base is from Colorbok and is an Olive color.  The DP is a double-sided one from American Crafts.  I stamped the greeting (The Paper Studio/Stampabilities) with Memento Tuxedo Black.  The inside says, "Don't walk in front of me because I may not follow.  Don't walk behind me because I may not lead.  Just walk beside me and be my friend."  I used pop dots to adhere the shoe and added some pink gems from Queen and Co to finish it off.

Thanks again for stopping by.  God bless y'all.

Guest Designer Spot at Sweet Stamps

Happy Thursday my friends.  Welcome back to my blog.  Today is my day to post as a Guest Designer over at Sweet Stamps.  If you haven't had a chance to check out all the wonderful products in the store, please take the time.  There are many wonderful surprises waiting for you.

This week, the challenge is Christmas Greenery.  I chose to use the Large Poinsettia Swag to make this card.

I began this card by creating a background panel by randomly stamping the image on a piece of white card stock.  I used a Pine Green BIC Marker, a Red Sakura Glitter Pen and a Gold Metallic Gel Pen to color in the images that were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I stamped the sentiment and added another swag to the top.  Both the sentiment and background panels are matted on Red Recollections card stock.  The Dark Green Colorbok card base is the resting place for this background.  I wrapped a length of Green Organza Ribbon around the back ground panel before adhering it to the base.  The sentiment is popped up.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope y'all enjoyed this Christmas Greenery card.  God bless y'all and have a great day!

Gone Fishing

Happy Friday everyone.  It's gonna be a hot one here today..100 degrees.  That's way more than I can take so I will be staying inside today..maybe getting some cards made.

I have a card for you today that uses a QKR Stampede image.  I just love these stamps.  They are so whimsical and cute.  Maribeth designs some great ones.  If you haven't ever checked out their store, please do.  They also have a Biblical Store.

This image is called "Gone Fishing".  Isn't he cute?  I used my colored pencils and OMS to create this image.  I also added the grass and dirt with chalk so that's not part of the actual stamp design.  After coloring the image, I started with the chalk work.  I have an Android tablet that I keep on my desk so that I watch you tube videos while I work.  I found one that showed how to use make up brushes instead of the little pom pom thingies to add chalk.  I didn't have a make up brush, but I have scads of paint brushes.  It works so much better.  I am hooked.  You have more control over where your color goes and how much you are adding.  I did the sky and the ground with the paintbrush and man, I love it.  The DP is actually from a Recollections Christmas stack but I thought it worked really well with the colors in this image.  Those cute little fish..well, I cut those out of a piece of DP that I had in my stash that I will never use.  Don't know why I bought it.  It had to have come in a stack of paper.  It has campers, picnic tables, fish and words on it.  Yeah, not up my alley at all.  But, I cut the fish out and added them with pop dots to the card and I think they work well.

I made this card for QKR's last challenge but I didn't get it finished in time to enter it, but I really liked it so I thought I would post it anyway.

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  If it's going to be a scorcher where y'all live, please take the necessary precautions..lots of water, stay out of the direct sunlight and if you are like me, stay in the a/c. LOL.  God bless y'all.

Santa's Down Time

Good morning.  I've got my toes in the water, a** in the sand. Not a worry in the world, cold beer in my hand, life is good today.  Life is good today.  Gotta love Zac Brown.  Even though I'm not at the beach and I don't drink, Santa needs a break too.

This card really makes me want to be at the beach.  I love sound of the waves crashing on the sand, the smell of the salt water and watching all the people.  I think Santa enjoys it too from the look of things.  This image is Diane's Digital Designs and is printed on Neenah card stock.  I used colored pencils and chalk to make this image come to life.  I used an old sketch from my sketch book to design the card with a beach paper from my stash.  It's so old I don't even remember who designed it.  I cut a couple of the elements out of the DP and used them for embellishments.  The sentiment is from my stash and I think it's a Studio G.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope y'all enjoyed this brief glimpse into what Santa does in the off season. Have a great day and God bless.

Finally Friday with Queen Kat Designs

Good morning friends.  It's finally Friday and that means it time for me to post a new card for Queen Kat Designs.  This week I am using the Teddy Ornament by Sandra Caldwell.

To begin this card, I used Neenah card stock to print out the image and then colored with colored pencils and OMS.  I used my scissors to cut out the image because I wanted him to look like he was hanging from the front of the card.  I then took two papers from Recollections Bright and Jolly collection from last year and one from DCWV that had been in my stash for a couple of years.  I also used SU Old Olive card stock for the base as well as the mat .  I angled the green polka dot paper and folded the edges over instead of cutting them off.  I tied some ribbon from my stash around the middle of the front panel and then adhered it to the card base.  Adding a few gems finished it off.  The sentiment is from Sweet Stamps and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.   Before adhering the front panel to the card base, I used my Crop a dile and punch a hole in the paper.  I stuck the "hook" through the hole so that it gives the illusion of hanging on the card.

I hope y'all enjoyed our Finally Friday card.  Stop on over to Queen Kat Designs blog to check out some of the gorgeous work posted there.  Have a wonderful Friday and God bless.

Milk Coffee and Ave 613 Entry

Hello my crafty peeps.  Welcome back to my blog.  It's safe here..everyone knows me...lol  I have a sweet little card for y'all using an image from Milk Coffee.  Our theme was to use the colors of your Country...soooo red white and blue it is.

I told y'all she was cute.  I printed her out on Crafter's Companion card stock and used my colored pencils and OMS to give her life.  I then die cut her and embossed it, adding some Lady Bug Memento ink around the edges.  I then matted the image onto a panel of dark blue from Recollections.

This is the inside of the card.  I used two stamps from Cloud 9's American set.  I stamped the fireworks in Lady Bug Memento Ink and Bahama Blue Memento Ink.  The sentiment is stamped in TCP Real Red ink. I added a DP from Colorbok's Americana pad and then a panel of Red from Recollections and then the white panel.  This card is a Z fold card turned sideways.  Here's a pic of what it looks like from the side..

I used my EK Success  Mini Star punch to create the embellishments.   That's it.  Pretty simple, but nice.

I am also entering this card into the Ave 613 challenge..birthdays..as this is America's Birthday Card.

Thanks for joining me today.  I pray y'all have a great night.  God bless.

DS4J Shapes and Buttons

Hello friends.  I begin this post with a heavy heart.  My cousin, Ben, whom I wrote about in the last post, went to be with the Lord yesterday.  His young body suffered too much damage to survive.  Thank you for the thoughts and prayers.  Please, continue to keep his mom, sister and father in your prayers.  Thanks.

I have a card for you that I made for the Digital Stamps 4 Joy challenge this week.  Challenge #71 is Button it Up Shapely.  Translation: make a shaped card and add buttons.  I am also entering this card into some other challenges and they are listed at the bottom of this post.

I began by folding a 6x12 piece of Colorbok Pink card stock in half to form a base.  I printed out this shape on the computer and hand cut two black shapes from Recollections card stock.  I made an easel card from the base and adhered one of the black pieces to the front, the other to the inside bottom.  I then cut around the shapes so that the only pink you see is at the very top when the card is closed.  I so want a Grand Calibur or a Big Shot so that I can die cut shaped cards without all the fussy cutting.  It would be so much easier.

I used an image from DS4J designed by Jen Lee..love love love her images.  This one is called Misteri's Prom.  I colored her with colored pencils and OMS.  I am so thrilled..I bought my first three Prismacolor Pencils the other day at AC Moore.  I bought two shades of skin tones and a pink for the cheeks.  I love them.  I am definitely going to have to invest in a whole set.   I chose a sentiment from Desert Diva and added that to the inside of the card.  The remaining pink card stocks are from Recollections and the DP is all DCWV.  All of those buttons are from my stash.

I hope y'all enjoyed your visit today.  I hope y'all have a great day.  God bless.

Special Prayers Needed

Hello friends.  I am writing this post to ask my wonderful followers who believe in the power of prayer to start praying for my cousin, Ben Parks.  He is 23 and was in a major accident early Sunday morning.  He is in critical condition at MCV Hospital in Richmond, VA.  He was thrown through the windshield of the car he was riding in.  His face is mangled, many broken bones, and they had to do emergency surgery to open a spot in his skull to relieve the pressure from a brain bleed.  He's unconscious and on a ventilator. The neurosurgeon who operated on him doesn't hold out much hope because test show brain stem injury.  Please, pray for Ben, my Aunt Susan and Ben's little sister Hailey.  They desperately need all the prayers and support they can get.

If you would like to send a thinking of you card to my aunt and her family that would be great.  Just email me privately and I will tell you where to send it.

Thanks so much in advance for the prayers.  God bless y'all.

Christmas in July at Queen Kat Designs

Happy Friday!  Thanks for joining us at Queen Kat Designs for another preview of some wonderful artwork by Kathy Cyr.  This little girl and her cat are so cute!

I used a new medium to create this card.  I was AC Moore yesterday and was talking to a man who is an artist.  I was asking him, other than Prismacolor Pencils, are there any alternatives for a lower price?  He was telling me that Derwent is good, but they are kind of pricey too.  Then he asked me if I had ever used Soft Pastels.  Nope, I haven't.  So, I broke down and bought me a set of 24.  I used them to color in the tree, cat, her pj's and the presents.  I did realize one thing...they are super messy.  But, the great thing about them, they blend wonderfully.  So, I am thinking some very pretty sky backgrounds.  I'm not so sure I would use them again to color an image other than a large image of an animal or water or something like that.

So, I resorted back to my Sakura Glitter pens to add some color and sparkle to this image.  I used my BIC markers for the eyes of the cat and the girl.  The card base is Colorbok.  The strip of green card stock is Recollections.  Both DPs are from The Paper Studio's new Christmas pad.  I found the little sentiment and holly stickers in my stash.

Thanks for stopping in today and I hope you will hop on over to Queen Kat Designs and check out the wonderful, eclectic stamps.

Just Something a Bit Fun!

Howdy y'all.  I just wanted to show you what my daughter has been up to.  I am not a girly girl.  I haven't been one those since my high school days when I wouldn't even leave my house to go to the end of the drive way to get the mail without my hair, make up, fingernails and clothes all together.  Well, after years of waitressing, marriage and a child, I don't have time for all that mess anymore.

Kierstynne wanted to paint my nails.  She got some new polish in some funky colors and said, "Momma, you would look so pretty with your nails done and we could even match."  Ok, how could I resist that, right? So, I let her do my nails..including my toenails which match my fingernails.  Wanna see???

Yep, black and white polka dotted.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  I even told her if she got some red polish that I would let her make my nails look like ladybugs..he he.  And yes, that is my wedding band tattooed on.  I have a severe metal allergy and cannot wear jewelry so I went and had my wedding band permanently put on my finger.

I hope y'all enjoyed my new nails..lol  Have a great day and God bless.

Made in America

Hello there friends.  Thanks for stopping in to see what I have been up to.  Today I have a card for y'all that uses the #2 image in the Progressive Challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs Paper Craft Planet site.  If you remember, the first image was Army Honey.  The second one is Air Force Honey.  Now that I have completed my card with her, I can request Sailor Honey.

To begin, I printed off the image on Neenah card stock and used colored pencils and a Gold Metallic Gel Pen.  I trimmed down the image and matted it onto a panel of Gold Glittery card stock and then a Blue panel.  Both of these are from DCWV.  I followed this weeks MFT Sketch # 132 to design it.  The DP's are from Colorbok's Americana pad.  The card base is SU Red Riding Hood.  I used a scrap piece of blue and gold star DP and my new Hexagon Fiskars punch to make the little elements on the gold panel.   I stamped the sentiment (Cloud 9) onto Neenah card stock with Memento Lady Bug and inked the edges with Bahama Blue.

So, that finishes up my card for today.  I haven't been too many challenges lately.  I'm trying to catch up and get ahead of my DT cards because we are going on vacation next week.  If you don't see me alot next week, then you know why.

I hope y'all have a great day and God bless!

Sad News in the Crafting World

Hello friends.  I just want to post this to let y'all know to please place watermarks on your cards when you post them either on your blogs or into a gallery.  We have had an issue on the Outlawz with someone stealing cards from other blogs and entering it as her own work.  It's a sad day when people resort to stealing other's work.

Outlawz Paper A La Mode Challenge

Good Morning again.  I am a bit late in posting this card.  We had such a busy weekend I didn't get to post it.  On Thursday we took Kierstynne to see fireworks, Friday we cooked out at my MIL's and had fireworks again, Saturday my husband wanted to have a cookout, so we had about 30 people here at our house.  Sunday we had church, dinner at the inlaws and then took Kierstynne to the arena here in our area for the WWE Wrestling show.  She is a girl after her daddy's own heart.  He's a huge wrestling fan and so is she.  This week is Vacation Bible School at Tim's grandmother's church plus Twirling tonight..so it looks like I will be busy all week.  I have to fit some crafting in somewhere..

So, this week over on The Outlawz Paper a la Mode Saturday challenge, we have a Summer Challenge.  I used Dearie Dolls images and a Creative Stamping image to create my card.

To begin, I used an Ivory card base from Recollections.  I printed out the images onto Neenah card stock and using colored pencils, added some color.  I fussy cut each element.  The "sand" is actual sandpaper that I tore and inked with DI Walnut Stain. I learned my lesson the hard way of cutting sandpaper with a trimmer..I wouldn't advise it. :)  The "ocean" is a DP from Recollections All Season pad that I got at Michael's for $4.50.  Before adding the ocean and sand, I used chalks to make the sky.  The little swimmer is adhered with Pop Dots for interest.  I printed out that sentiment from my computer program and trimmed it down, inked it with DI Walnut Stain and added it with pop dots.

I hope that you guys will jump on over to the Outlawz and join us.  There will be a new challenge posted for every day of the week plus a progressive freebie challenge every two weeks where you can use images designed by the very talented Anne Fenton and Sandi Huggett.  You don't want to miss those.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope y'all enjoy your day.  God bless y'all.
