It's Friday!! I'm so glad. Time to get my weekend on. Not that I do alot..LOL.
Today over at QKR Stampede our challenge is "Butterflies and Bow". Since I love butterflies this was a great challenge for me.
I don't know how many of you know someone with LUPUS, but it's a devastating autoimmune disease. There are two different strains of it and both are very painful. My grandmother, Dorothy, God rest her soul, had LUPUS for years before they diagnosed her. She thought she was just a lazy housewife. She couldn't understand why she was so tired all the time. When they finally were able to diagnose her, all her symptoms made sense. My uncle and aunt have it also. The butterfly is the "mascot" for LUPUS, so my family is partial to butterflies. Everytime I see one, I think of my Grandmother. I am checked twice a year for the markers and even though I have 8 of the 15 markers, my tests have yet to show up positive. But, just as with Fibro, Thyroid Disease and Celiacs, you have to be in the midst of a flare up in order for your tests to come back positive.
So, now that y'all have had your medical lesson for today, let's move on to the card.
I went a bit whimsical with this card. I apologize for the shadow in the bottom right hand corner. I think my hand got in the way. After printing out the images, I colored them with pencils and OMS. I cut all four images out and added some Sakura Glitter gel pen to them. I used an oval die cut that a friend of mine sent me (Thanks Jan!) as the mat behind the bush image. I used pop dots for the "butterflies". The image is actually called Moths, but I thought they made beautiful butterflies. The sentiment is from Gina K. I used a patterned paper from The Paper Studio and two from DCWV. The card base is an Olive Green and is from Colorbok. I used the same green for the sentiment mat. I tied yellow ribbon around the top block of paper and tied a bow. Yellow was a favorite color of my Grandma's.
I hope to see some of y'all enter a card into the challenge at QKR Stampede this week. Thanks for stopping by today and God bless y'all.
Such a cheerful spring creation. Love the ribbon.
