Word Art Wednesday

Hello there friends.  Today I have a card that I made for the Word Art Wednesday challenge.  This week, as always, the challenge is an Anything Goes, but you have the option of using the Scripture verse they picked.  This week it's Isaiah 41:13.

I decided to go for a black and white color scheme.  There is something so classy about those two colors together.  I pulled two papers from my stash (DCWV) in black and white for this card.  I printed out the word art fairly large because I wanted the Scripture to take precedence.  I wrapped a piece of black and white plaid ribbon around the bottom of the focal panel, matted it onto a piece of black Recollections card stock and adhered it to the card.  I added some crystal leaves, two white flowers, one black flower and a stick pin.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope y'all enjoyed this card.  Can't wait to see ya again.  God bless!

Mojo Monday #277

I have come to the conclusion that I just love the Mojo Monday site.  They have some very talented ladies over there who come up with these wonderful sketches.  If you haven't already checked them out, I suggest that you do.  You won't regret it!

Today's card is a very CAS card that follows Sketch 277 on the Mojo blog.  I wasn't sure what I was doing to do when I saw the sketch.  CAS isn't one of my strong suits, but I have been trying to get them right.  I think I did OK with this one.

I used a piece of paper from Studio G's Valentine's line that they had out last year.  Yep, still trying to use up all my old stuff.  I cut it down to 2"x2.5"  I made sure to get the butterfly on the piece.  The stamp set is a little Valentine's/Love stamp from Studio G that I got at AC Moore last year.  I stamped in Classic Red by TCP.  I matted the image on a piece of dark red card stock from Recollections.  The mat is 2.25"x2.75".  I adhered them to the middle of the white card base which is from SU.  For embellishments, I added two red buttons and a pink one with glue dots.  I found this flower in the bottom of my stash pile of flowers and loved the way it looked.

I hope you enjoyed your visit today.  Stay tuned for some new challenge blogs and new cards.  Thank you and God bless you.

In My Thoughts

Hi there!  So glad you could stop in today.  I have a cute card for you today.

I started with a 5x5 card base made from pink Colorbok card stock.  I added a piece of 4.75"x4.75" mint green card stock also from Colorbok.  I cut two pieces of DCWV Fabric paper to 2" x 4.5" strips and adhered them going different directions.  The little praying girl was sent to me by a friend and I used BIC Markers to color her in.  I used my Spellbinders Classic Circles Large die to cut her out.  I inked the edges and matted the image on a mint green Lacy Circles die cut.  I took a pink Lacey Circles die cut and offset it slightly to form the pattern you see.  I used my white gel pen to add faux stitches around the mint green card stock.  I made a pink and green flower and adhered it to the left side of the image, then added four pink pearls, two on top and two on the bottom of the flower.  The sentiment was sent to me by the same friend who sent the image.  I used an EK Success punch on the sentiment and inked it with Memento Lady Bug.

I am entering this card into  two different challenges.  Friday's Sketch Challenge and Crafts4eternity.   I am so happy that you took the time to stop in.  Thanks so much for the sweet comments that you guys are leaving.  I sure appreciate it.  Have a wonderful Saturday.  God bless you.

Created with Love Challenge

Hello there.  Hope all of you are having a great day.  First off, I have some great news.  I had my first x-ray since my surgery and met with the surgeon today.  Everything is going perfect.  The doctor said my neck is healing perfectly.  The bone is growing around the screws and cage.  The natural curve of my neck is perfect.  Whatever I am doing, he said to keep doing because it's working.  YIPPEE!!  I was doing the happy dance on the way out of the office.   Starting February 17th I can start taking off the collar for one hour a day for two days.  Then I move to two hours a day for two days, then three hours for two days, etc.  I have to go back around the 17th of March for another x-ray.  So far so good.  Can  you say Praise the Lord??  I sure can.

So, onto today's card.  Created with Love #24 challenge is Critter Birthday.  I chose this adorable digi stamp that I received from a friend of mine and unfortunately I don't know who designed it.  I colored the image with my colored pencils and OMS.  I added some glitter pen on the roses and on the little mouse's bow.  I inked the edges of the image with Memento London Fog and matted it on Colorbok Pink and then Stampin' Up Gray. I tilted it just a little wonky for interest. The DP is from my stash and the card base is made from SU Gray.  The card is 5x5.  I printed out the sentiment from the computer and used the same matting sequence.  I used pop dots on the sentiment.  I added  a triple layer paper flower with two mint green leaf sprays and a mint brad to finish it off.

I sure hope you all enjoyed today's card.  Stop on over to the Created with Love blog and check out some of the beautiful work as well as the fun challenges.  God bless ya'll and have a wonderful weekend.

Vera Bradley Inspired Card

Hi peeps.  I have another card to show you today.  I received a special order for a birthday card this week.  The lady is buying her daughter a Vera Bradley cosmetic bag for her birthday and wanted a card especially for her.  So, I Googled Vera Bradley Since I am not a girly girl, I know absolutely nothing about purse designers.  The name of the bag is Island Bloom and I have to say, it is a beautiful bag.  Not so much for the style, but as a crafter, the design and color combinations.   So here is the bag..the aquas and lime greens I absolutely love.  The black outlined flowers really set it off.  Kinda tropical don'tcha think?

This is the front of the card.  The base is made with a K & Co prefolded gatefold card with a twist.
I received a pack of these cards from my Big Sis over on SCS.  Thanks Mary!  I used some papers from my stash and unfortunately, when I began scrapbooking back in 2004, I wasn't so concerned with keeping my paper lines seperate.  Now, I wish I had because I still have some papers from 2004 and have no idea which lines they belong to.  Yes, I know, I am a paper addict.  It's bad.  I actually have enough paper that even if I didn't buy anymore for probably 2 years I could still craft.  With the exception of my cardstock, I am set for patterned paper.  But dang it, there are just so many beautiful collections out there.  So, back to the card.  I tried to match up the patterns and colors on the Vera Bradley purse as close as I could.   I pulled a couple of sheets that had the green, black, and aqua together, but they didn't seem quite right.  So I decided on this cute lime green with white flowers, black with white outlined flowers, and a small aqua print.  It does have brown in it, but not enough of a difference with the black that it clashed.  I also used a lime green cardstock from my stash to mat the patterned paper on.  The sentiment was printed out on my computer using the Brushstroke font set at 24.  I had a slightly hard time getting the diamonds to match up, and they still weren't perfectly straight, but that's the fun of crafting, right.  Imperfections make it handmade.

The inside was done with a combination of the black and white and green and white patterned paper and black cardstock and green cardstock.  I layered them leaving 1/8th of an inch between each layer.  The sentiment for the inside came from a list compiled on SCS (Splitcoast Stampers).  It's a great list of sentiments for all occassions.  I printed it out on my computer and used the same Brushstroke font as the front sentiment, just in a smaller size.  I mounted it on aqua cs just like the front.  I added the flowers on the green panels from some I had in my stash..again, I have no idea where I got them or who they were made by.

So that's the card.  I hope you guys enjoyed it.  I know I had fun making it.  I am going to have to check out more of Vera's purses for more inspiration.  Whatcha think??
