Mojo Monday

Hello there.  Today's card was made using the Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  I found this site on a fluke actually.  I was cruisin' through one of the blogs that I follow and found a link.  I checked out their site and fell in love.  This is my first week entering a challenge on the site.

Here is the sketch that we needed to follow.

Here's the card that I made from that sketch.

I also entered this card into the Outlawz Color Challenge for this week.  The focal image is a freebie from Beccy's Place.  I used colored pencils and OMS to color in the image then used a yellow Sakura glitter pen to color in the outside frame of the image.  I made the little flower using a 2" scalloped paper punch from Fiskars.  All the papers and card stock came from my stash.

Thanks for checking out my first entry for the Mojo Monday Challenge Blog.  I hope you all have a great day and God bless.

Created with Love Challenge

Hello Everyone.  Today I have a card that I made for the Created with Love challenge.  Our theme is Christmas.  I found this wonderful pyramid candle on the internet for free.  It was a lot of fun to color and put this together.  This is the first pyramid card I have ever done and I think it turned out pretty cute.

I used my colored pencils and a Sakura Clear Star glitter pen to color in the images.  I then cut them out using my Nestabilities Classic Circles.  I used two layers of foam tape to seperate each layer.  I used a green and gold DP and stamped the sentiment in TCP Gold.  I used a piece of red and a piece of gold rope ribbon and tied a bow in the middle.  The longest part was coloring in all four images.

Thanks for stoppin in to day to take a gander at my Christmas card.  God bless you all and have a great Thursday.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We, as ladies, need to fully aware of this.  Even though it is one of the most curable forms of cancer, it still takes thousands of lives every year.  Please be aware of your bodies.  Make sure that you get your annual check up and do the monthly at home exam.  If find anything, and I do mean anything, unusual, get to the doctor as soon as possible.  I had my own scare a couple of years ago when doing my exam at home.  I found a lump in my left breast.  Talk about freaking out.  I made an appointment with my doctor, had a mammogram and an ultrasound.  Thank God mine was just a calcium build up in a milk duct.  After having three aunts suffer through breast cancer, I don't take any chances.  You shouldn't either.

So, in awareness of this issue, the Greeting Card challenge over on the Outlawz for this week is Breast Cancer Awareness.  Our cards had to have something to do with this theme.  I found a too cute image over at Beccy's Place and knew I had to use it.

Too cute, right??  I love it.  The DP paper is actually a baby girl sentiment page, but the words on it fit perfectly with this challenge.  Words like Precious, Beautiful, Special, Happy, Future, Cute.  These are words that I would associate with a survivor of Breast Cancer.

Thank you so much for stopping in today as we honor those suvivors and remember those who fought a good fight until the end.  God bless you today.

QKD Blog Hop Day 4

Welcome back everyone.  Today's theme is  SPOOKY.  I love the stamp I picked for this card.  Even though it's supposed to be spooky, I think he's rather cute..hehe

Hopefully you made it here from Stephanie's blog.  If not, please go back to  QKD and start from the beginning so you don't miss anything.  You never know what you might see.

Also, just for this blog hop, Vikki has given a coupon to help you save some  money on the stamps you've seen so far, plus all the ones you will see in the coming days.  It's also good for anything in the store.  You should really take advantage of it.  Just add the code from the ticket to the promo/coupon box during the checkout.

Now, on to today's card.

This stamp is called GRAVE DIGGER and is by Miss Megs I told ya'll he was cute didn't I?  This card was pretty simple to make.

How To Make:
1.  Use a black card base in the standard A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")
2.  Trim a piece of red card stock to 4" x 5 1/4".
3.  Stamp image on white card stock with black ink and color in using the coloring medium of your choice.  I chose  colored pencils and OMS.  I also chalked the sky.
4.  Ink the edges of the focal image.  I used DI Vintage Photo.
5.  Trim a piece of black card stock to 3 3/4" x 4".  Then a piece of white card stock 1/4" smaller and your DP 1/4" smaller than the white.  I chose the bat DP from Recollections Haunted Estates collection.
6.  Mat all pieces together and adhere to the card base.  Using pop dots, add your focal image to the bottom left corner.  Notch out your sentiment, edge with black ink and adhere to the top left corner of the image.
7.  Embellish.  I had a set of skulls and bones stickers from a few years ago that I got a Michael's so I used those since our little guy is playing in a graveyard.  I added some holographic rhinestones from the same set just for kicks.

There you go.  All the instructions to make this cute little SPOOKY card.  Join us tomorrow for Day 5 to see what the DT comes up with.  Remember to start on the Official Queen Kat Blog so you don't miss any of the fabulous projects.  Have a great day!

QKD Blog Hop Day 3

Welcome back everyone.  The blog hop is just a hoppin' away.  I have looking at the blogs and I have to tell you..I have found some beautiful projects.  I hope you all are keeping up.

I'm glad that you found my blog, but to take care of some housekeeping first, you should have hopped here from Maria's blog.  If you didn't, please return to the QKD Official Blog just to make sure you didn't miss out on anything.

Also, here is a great coupon that is good through the end of the blog hop for 15% off in the store.  Make sure you enter the code during the checkout to get your discount.

So, today's theme is the COLOR PURPLE.  I knew I had to do this day, because purple is one of my most favorite colors.  You can do anything with purple.  Today's card features a new stamp called Flip Top Frankie which is being released today.  He's too cute and has a very confused look upon his face.  I think he might be in sugar shock..

I used a Mojo Monday sketch for this cute little guy.  I think he turned out cute in purple.

To make this card:
1. Stamp image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Using the coloring medium of your choice, color Frankie.  I used colored pencils and OMS.   Fussy cut out Frankie
2.  Using Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Circles Large, cut out two circles that are next to each other in your package.  I used orange cardstock for the smaller one, which I embossed.  I used a sheet of DP from my stash for the larger circle.  It is a mottled purple.
3.  Cut a piece of lime green card stock into a 3x3 square.  Cut a piece of purple card stock into a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2" rectangle.  Cut a piece of orange cardstock to 1/2" x 2 1/2" and notch one end.
4.  Cut your background paper to 4" x 5 1/4".  Ink the edges.  I used DI Vintage Photo.   The card base is orange as is a standard A2 size card (5 1/2" x 4 1/4")
5.  Using some Halloween or coordinating ribbon, wrap it around the DP and tie a small bow to the right side of the card.
6.  Attach your back ground paper to the card base.  Lay the purple card stock at and angle and attach.  The lime green piece is turned sideways and centered on the DP.
7.  Apply your greeting to the notched strip of orange.  I hand wrote my sentiment, but you can add whatever sentiment you like.
8.  Put your circles together with ATG and using pop dots, attach Frankie to the center.  Lay your focal image on the card towards the left side and place the sentiment strip under it until you have it where you want it.  Remove the focal image and attach the sentiment.  Using pop dots, attach Frankie.

And there you have it.  Flip Top Frankie is complete.  I hope you enjoyed stopping by and checking out my creation for today.  Be sure to stop back in tomorrow for Day 4.  Thanks so much.

QKD Blog Hop Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of the Queen Kat Design's Blog Hop.  I hope you have seen some creative and wonderful works of art so far.  My design team sisters are very creative.

Before we get started with my card for today, I want to make sure you are following the hop in the correct order.  You should have arrived here from Stephanie's blog.  If not, please go back to the Official QKD blog and start from the beginning.  I want to make sure you don't miss anything.

The second thing I want to share with you before I reveal my card today is this coupon.  It will save you 15% off your next order at the QKD Store.  Use the code on the coupon in the checkout and you will see your saving.  Vikki has some wonderful stamps and accessories over in the store, so when you are done hopping for today, you should check it out.

Today's theme is BATS.  I actually forgot to order a bat stamp when I placed my order for this hop, so I had to improvise.  The stamp I used I have showcased before, but I wanted you guys to see how versatile this stamp can be.  It's called Vacation Cottage by Catherine Swinford.  I showcased it as a Christmas Card and as a Thanksgiving Card.  Now, you are going to see it as a Halloween Card.    This stamp has so many possibilities that I think it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Didn't it come out cute?  This was one of the easier cards I have made for the hop.  I pulled quite a few things from my stash to use.  It's pretty clean and simple, but still packs a punch.

To make this card:
1.  Use a standard size card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").  I used Basic Black from Stampin' Up
2.  Cut a piece of DP to 4"x 5 1/4" for the background.  I chose the bat pattern from Recollections Halloween pack.  Ink the edges.  Cut a piece of coordinating ribbon  to 4 1/2" and adhere to the middle of the DP.  Take another piece of ribbon about 3" long and tie a bow around the part already on the DP.
3.  Stamp your image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, or whatever your favorite black ink is.  Color in your image.  I used Spectrum Noir alcohol pens and little bit of glitter gel pen for highlight.
4.  Trim you image to the size that you would like it.  Cut a mat 1/4" larger than your image. Ink the edges of you image.  I used DI Vintage Photo.  Mat the image.
5.  Using pop dots, place your focal image to the left side of the card, evenly spacing all around it.
6.  Take a piece of scrap paper that has bat images on it.  I used a piece from the Recollections Haunted Estates pad.  I fussy cut out three of the bats.  Using little pieces of pop dots, attach them to the image randomly.
7.  Attach your embellishments.  I had these little rhinestone spiders in my stash.  I found them at either Michael's or AC Moore a couple of years ago.  I lined them up going down the right side and one in the top right corner of the image.

So, it's that simple.  If you don't have any DP with bats on it, you can always use other bat embellishments like brads, stickers, or felties.  Just remember to pop dot them.

Thanks for stopping by for Day 2 of our 13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop.  I hope you are having fun and seeing some new ideas that you would like to try.  Now, it's time to move on to the QKD Store for a little browsing and a little shopping.  Remember to use your code for a 15% discount on your entire order.  Have a great day.

BLOG HOP--DAY 1

Good morning everyone.  Happy October 1st.  Can you believe it's that time of year already..There are only 12 weeks until Christmas.  WOW..That's scary.

So, if you came here from Janie's Blog then you are on the right trail.  If you didn't find your way here from Janie's blog, go back to the beginning, which starts at the Official QKD blog.  You don't want to miss anything good.

The theme for today is SKULLS/STEAM PUNK.  I chose SKULLS.  I'm not much on the steam punk thing, but I figured I could do just fine with skulls.  The stamp I picked is called  Memories and is available for sale at the QKD Store.  I also used the Wicked sentiment.

I began by stamping the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I used colored pencils and OMS to color in both images.  I used a light gray on the face and the skull.  Sand, light brown and harvest gold on the lady. I colored in the eyes and mouth of the skull and her lips with red.  Her hair is done in shades of black.  I used some Sakura glitter pen in Clear Star to highlight the designs on her face and hair as well as the skull.

For the sentiment I used turquoise and black for the words and blended them together.  I used red on the roses as well as the Sakura glitter pen.  Two shades of green did the leaves and the cute little spider and web are highlighted with the glitter pen.  I inked around the edges with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.  I matted the sentiment with a 1/8th inch border on Turquoise card stock by Colorbok.

To put this card together, I started with a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of GP White Card stock cut in half and 5 1/2".  I took one half and scored it horizontally at 4 1/4".  The finished size ends up being 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".    I cut a piece of Recollection's Haunted Estate DP to 4" x 5 1/4".  I ran that through my Cuttlebug using a Tim Holtz Alterations Embossing Folder.  I then adhered that to the card base using my ATG gun.  I then ran the sentiment through the Cuttlebug with the same embossing folder.  I am not sure of the name, I haven't been able to find it.  I used Labels 10 to cut out the oval shape behind Memories.  I inked up the top of the embossing folder with Distress Ink in Black Soot and ran it through the Cuttlebug.  This technique is almost like Letterpress.  It gives your shape a very interesting look.  I then fussy cut Memories out leaving a very thin white space around her.  I attached the Labels 10 (3rd one from the largest) with my ATG and used pop dots to adhere Memories.

The flower is a Rolled Paper Rose that I made.  You can find many tutorials on how to do this technique on you tube as well as Splitcoast Stampers.  I'm sure there are alot of tutorials out there.  I curled the edges of the rose, added some Stickles in Hologram and placed a jewel in the center.  Two rhinestones on either edged of the Labels 10 die cut finished off the card.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today.  If you look below you will find the link to the next blog.  Keep on hopping and checking out all of the wonderful works my design team sisters are creating.  Join us tomorrow for Day 2.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge Entry

Hello there friends.  How are ya'll today?  It's been a good day for me.  I found this new blog the other day.  Mojo Monday.  I really like all the sketches that they offer.  You can print off the weekly sketches for 2010, 2011 and up to September 2012.  Each week they offer a new sketch challenge.  So, this week is was either a round of square card.  I die cut all the shapes, but couldn't fit everything on a round card so I combined the two and made one card.

I like the way it turned out.  I added a flower from Jolies and a little butterfly charm from my stash.  I used two shades of blue and sand.  I also entered this one into the SCS Color Challenge for this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my new card.  I appreciate each and everyone of you who stop by.  God bless you

DAY 100--THE FINAL PROJECT

Well, can you believe it?  I made it all the way through the 100 Day challenge.  Thank you for checking in everyday to see what I have created.   It has been an eye opening experience.  I can't believe I went the whole 100 days and only spent $45.  Most of that was on adhesives.  Gotta have that right?  Some of the cards were a challenge for me to complete.  I have had to make sure that I set time aside every day to craft.  I didn't always blog daily, but I have managed to post all the cards I made.

The last and final card is for a challenge over on Beccy's Place.  The challenge for September is to use any of Beccy's digi stamps and create a card.  I used the For You free digi that she had up on her blog.

I made the flower using Nestabilities and brown cardstock and the same DP that is on the back ground.  I lightly colored in the butterflies on the sentiment in a light purple.  I added some Sakura Glitter Pen to highlight parts of the butterflies and the flowers.

Thanks so much for following me during my 100 day journey.  My next big project is the 13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop over at Queen Kat Designs.  I will be doing all 13 days.  I received my package of new stamps today and can't wait to get started.  Now, I must warn you.  Some of the stamps are way out of my little safe box.  Even though we don't celebrate Halloween in the traditional way, I still like the images.  So stay tuned and hop along with us starting October 1st.

God bless you all.

Day 99

Hello there friends.  Today I am entering a new challenge over on Created with Love.  I found this blog while catching up on my favorite blogs.  The challenge for this week is Back to School.  I used a new set by Tami Mayberry to do this one and a set from TCP called Back to School.

I stamped the note page first in black then added the numbers on the side and the sentiment in red.  I stamped each little crayon and cut them out.  I used pop dots for the crayons.  I enjoyed making this one even though my daughter has been back in school for a month already.

Thanks for stopping in today.  Stay tuned for Day 100.  I can't believe I finished the challenge.  Yea Me!!!  I hope all of you have a great night and God bless.

Day 98

Howdy folks.  I hope you all are having a great Monday.  My daughter and I are headed to Roba's Farm today with her friend Emma and Emma's mom.  This is the girl's back to school picnic.  Some people think that homeschool children are backwards and not sociable.  Let me tell you..that is the furthest thing from the truth.  If any of you were to meet my girl..she will talk your ear off.  She loves people, especially older folks. Kierstynne and Emma have become the best of friends after meeting this time last year.

Today's card did double duty.  I submitted this card for a challenge over on SCS and the Outlawz.  The SCS challenge was the Featured Stamper Challenge, and for the Outlawz, the challenge was to pick a love song.  I CASEd Jackie Rockwell's Fun in the Sun card.  The front of the card is actually cut into a circle shape.  The song that I picked for the Outlawz challenge was "When a Man loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge.

I found these two little people die from Provo Craft at an outlet store in our area for 50 cents each.  Don't you just love a good deal?  I know I do.  I replaced the words  Man and Woman with the die cuts.  I added a cute little pearlized heart for a little bling.  The hardest part of this card was getting the circle on the front.  I traced a CD and cut out the edges.    The sentiment inside says, "Everything is all good!"

Thanks for taking time out of your Monday to stop and visit me.  Please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions.  I just love reading what you think.  Also, I am extending the Blog Candy give away because we have had only 1 person leave a comment so far.  We need at least 4 people to do so.  Thanks again.

Day 97

Happy Sunday my friends.  Today's card was made for one of my fellow Tea Potter's mother who is turning 81 on Sept. 26.  She is also fighting a bout of cancer.  This one is for Dorothea.

Dorothea loves the Lord with all her heart.  So, I chose this image from a free coloring book online.  The sentiment is from one of our challenge partners on the Outlawz.  I cut out both images  using my Cuttlebug and Nestabilities.  This card is actually a little bigger than I normally make.  I had to use a 5x7 card so that both images would fit.  I added a strip of DCWV Fabric Paper and some pearls to finish it off.

Thank you for stopping by today and I pray you enjoy the rest of the Sabbath.

Day 96--Vacation Cottage

Wow.  I can't believe that I almost forgot to post this card today.  That would not have been a good thing.  Today's card is for Queen Kat Designs.  I used Catherine Swinford's Vacation Cottage.  I didn't use any coloring medium on this one.  I think it turned out pretty cute.

I made this one a Fall/Thanksgiving card.  I stamped the image and then used Tattered Angel's Glimmer Mist to spray the entire image.  I didn't use any color on it.  I inked the edges, matted it on some gold cardstock and pop dotted it onto a cute gold and green acorn DP.  The sentiment I stamped on some Kraft cardstock and cut it out using an EK Success punch.  I added a strip of green ribbon and some rhinestones to finish it off.

I can't believe I almost forgot to post this one.  My mind ain't what she usta be..lol  Thanks for stopping in today and I hope you all have a blessed day.

Oh yeah, don't forget about the 13 Days of Halloween over at Queen Kat Designs that starts October 1st.  I have my stamps ordered and on the way.  I am doing all 13 days, so make sure you hop along with us.  My sisters on the DT have some wonderful work to showcase.
