Last Day :(

Well folks,  today is the last day of the Queen Kat Designs  13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop.  I sure hope you guys enjoyed all the wonderful creations of art and the ways you can utilize the stamps that Vikki carries in her store.

You should have arrived here from Janie's blog.  If not, please go back and visit the Official Queen Kat Blog so you don't miss anything.

Also, today is the last day to make use of the coupon code for the blog hop.  Just enter the code during checkout and your discount will be reflected in your total.

So, now that all the business has been taken care of, let's get down to the fun stuff.  I do have one more announcement.  I want to thank all of you who have visited my blog these past 13 days.  I am giving away some blog candy to celebrate our 13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop.  Everyone loves candy right?  And what better time of the year to give away some.  So, here are the rules:  1.  You must become a follower of my blog.  That's pretty simple right.  2.  Leave a comment on today's post.  Please do not leave a comment as anonymous.  I need to have a name in order to draw for prizes.  3.  In your comment, please tell me what your favorite stamp has been during the hop.  I doesn't have to be one of the ones I used.  It can be from one of the other DT member's blogs.  There are going to be two prizes.  The first will be a Halloween grab bag filled with treats..no tricks.  The second prize, or grand prize will be a GC for Queen Kat Designs.  I haven't determined the amount yet, but I will let you know when we pull a winner.  I will write all the names on pieces of paper and have my daughter, Kierstynne, pick the winners.  So, I hope you decide to enter the drawing for these two prizes.  I will draw the name on Monday morning, October 21, 2012.  This gives you all weekend to enter.  I look forward to seeing which stamp is the most popular.

Ok.  For today's card, I tried something new.  I made my first easel card yesterday.  It was pretty easy.  So today I decided to try a Twist Easel card.  That also ended up being pretty easy.

I used a dark purple from Colorbok for the base of my image.  I used Basic Black from SU for the actual card base.  My DP is from Teresa Collins and the rest of the card stock is from Recollections.  I inked all the edges of all papers with DI Vintage Photo.  I stamped Edith by Maigan Lynn in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the image with colored pencils and OMS.  I used a Sakura Glitter Pen for some highlights.  I tried a new technique for doing black hair, and wow, does it pop.  I really like the way it turned out.  I gave her some smoky eyes and some bright red lips.

I added lots of black and orange buttons and three creepy spiders.  I think next time I made a twist easel card, I won't make the twist part so large.  But, all in all, I think she turned out pretty well.

For the inside of the card, I used another piece of the orange chevron pattern paper from Teresa Collins.  I cut a piece of white card stock from GP for a sentiment box.  Again, all papers were inked with DI Vintage Photo.  I cut out a tag from the Teresa Collins Paper Pad that says Poison and cut it on a diagonal to fit the card base and used two layers of pop dots to allow the card to stand upright when opened.  I added a spider web and spider rub on to the corner of the sentiment and added another little spider to the bottom corner.

Well guys, I hope have all enjoyed these past 13 days hopping along with us at Queen Kat Designs.  Make sure you take the time to enter my blog candy drawing and I hope to see you back here real soon.  Thanks for making our blog hop such a success.  Have a great Saturday!!

Halloween Blog Hop Day 12

Good Morning Blog Hoppers.  Our 13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop is almost over.  Just one more day after today.  I have had the best time designing for this hop.  I have some new stamps, learned some new tricks, and have been able to see some beautiful artwork from other DT sisters.  I hope you have enjoyed this hop as much as I have.

If you hopped here from Janie's blog, you are on the right trail.  If you didn't, please go back to the Official Queen Kat Blog and start there so you don't miss anything.

Don't forget about the coupon code that is good through the 13th of this month.  When the blog hop ends, so does the coupon code.

Our theme for today is ZOMBIES.  I can honestly say I have never made a card featuring a zombie until today.  I picked a cute zombie to work with.  I think she's cute anyway.

This little cutie is called Little Bit Creepy--Raven.  Little Bit Creepy has a whole line of these cute little zombies.  I colored her in with colored pencils and OMS and then added some Sakura Glitter Pen for highlight in her hair.  I used Sakura Clear Star on the skulls in her hair.  And a red Sakura for her lips.  I used Nestabilities to cut out Raven and the Scalloped mat behind her.  I used DI Spiced Marmalade to shade in around Raven.

This is my first attempt at an Easel Card.  I never realized they were so easy to make.  I found a video on youtube, and followed the directions and wow...I made one.  I used the Wednesday's Sketch from SCS to make the flip up part.  I used the same papers to create the inside.  I added some Halloween colored bling, a Prima flower pair that I inked with DI Spiced Marmalade and an orange mini brad.  I stamped the sentiment with the same ink.  I inked all the edges with DI Black Soot.  It was a pretty simple card to put together.

I hope you all enjoyed your visit here with me.  Head on over to Maria's blog and take a gander at what she has created.

Stamps: Raven from QKD; Sentiment Inkadinkadoo

Also, Queen Vikki has given us a vonderful discount.  Just imput zee code in during zee checkout process and you vill recieve 15% off zee total of your order.

Now, my darlings, let's move onto zee card for today.   I am sure you have guessed zee theme by now.  My bad impression should have given it away, hehe.  Yep, that's right.  It's VAMPIRES.    I tried my best vampire imitation at the beginning of this post.  Hopefully you guys didn't think I was just ignorant and couldn't spell..:)

My card today features two adorable vampire images from Che Gilson called Vampire Girl and Vampire Boy.  I just love these two cuties.  I put them together on the same card and used a non Halloween combo of colors.  Even though it's still a Halloween card, you could actually use these cuties for an anniversary or love card if you have someone into vampires, Goth, or just out in left field.

I think it turned out pretty cute.  I stamped both images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them in with colored pencils and OMS.  I fussy cut them out and pop dotted them onto a white background.  I edged the white cardstock with DI Black Soot and mounted it on a piece of Basic Black CS from SU.

I punched a white 1 1/2" circle, edged it with DI Black Soot and matted it on a 2" black scalloped circle.  I had wrote the sentiment with a Sakura Glitter Pen.

I added some rhinestones and used a sketch from Sketch Saturday to design the card.  I sure hope you all enjoyed today's project and with only two days left in the blog hop, I hope you guys are taking advantage of the coupon code over in QKD Store.  Thanks for stoppin' in today and I hope ya'll have a Happy Thursday.

Day 10

Good Morning blog hop followers.  We have seen some wonderful art work the past 9 days.  I have really enjoyed looking at all the blogs and even getting some great ideas.

You should have arrived here from the Whimsical Ink Society blog.  If you didn't, please go back to the Official Queen Kat Blog and start from there.  I know that you don't want to miss anything.

Also, make sure you take advantage of the wonderful savings  Queen Vikki has so generously provided for all the followers of the blog hop.  Just enter the promo code during checkout and save yourself 15% on your total order.

Today's theme is LABELS.  There are many stamps out there featuring labels, but my favorite by far is  the Raven Claw Tea stamp.  It's spooky, it's vintage, and I love it.  I decided to make this an old, distressed card.  I found a neat paper pad from Teresa Collins at Hobby Lobby the other day and in it were these label sheets.  I cut out seven of them to put on my card.  I took my cutterbee scissors and distressed all the edges, tore some of the edges and then inked them all with DI Vintage Photo.  The DP cheveron pattern also came from the Teresa Collins collection and I distressed it as well.

To make the focal image with the Raven Claw Tea stamp, I used five colors of Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks and some glossy card stock.  Then, using DI Black Soot, I stamped the image two times.  I used my heating tool to dry the ink.  I trimmed each label down and used foam tape to place one on the other.  I then used two layers of foam tape to adhere the image  a little off center.  I found a scrap piece of Halloween word paper and cut out three of the words, inked them and used pop dots to add them to the three corners.

I think this turned out very well.  I like the distressed look of the card and it gives it just the right amount of spookiness.  I sure hope you enjoyed my card for today.  I look forward to seeing you tomorrow for Day 11.  Tomorrow's theme is one of my favorites..just think  Brad Pitt, Robert Pattinson, Bela Legosi.

Day 9

Hello everyone.  Welcome to Day 9 of the 13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop.  If you got here from Stephanie's blog, then you are on the right track.  If not, please go back to the Official Queen Kat Design Blog and start there.  I wouldn't want you to miss anything.

Also, for the remainder of the blog hop, Queen Vikki has generously given us a coupon to use.  It will save you 15% off your total order.  Just insert the code during checkout and your discount will be applied.

Today's theme is CUTE.  There are so many ideas you could come up with for cute that deal with Halloween.  The stamp I chose is called Candy Pleeze by Coriander Shea.  Coriander has many wonderful stamps.    For my card, I found a cute DP from Recollections and trimmed it down so you can see the dand with the treat bag.  I stamped Candy with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with colored pencils and OMS.  I trimmed her down and inked the edges with DI Vintage Photo.  I matted her on a piece of Orange Cardstock from Recollections.  I added three brads from Recollections in Orange, Purple Glitter and Black Glitter to the corners of the image.  I found this cute card board cut out from Studio G that says, "CUTE"  I added some foam candy stickers, candy corn see through stickers and some orange/black polka dot ribbon and my card was finished.  I think she turned out pretty cute.

I appreciate you guys stopping by today and hope that you will come back tomorrow to see what designs we have.  Have a great day.

Day 8

Happy Monday Morning!  Today is the eighth day of our blog hop already.  Wow.  Time is really flying.  I hope you all have enjoyed all the wonderful designs you have seen this past week.  I know I sure have.
I hope you have come here from Janie's blog.  If not, please go back to the Official Queen Kat Designs blog and start from the beginning so you don't miss anything.

Today's theme is PUMPKINS.  I chose to use a stamp that I already had in my collection.  It wasn't made originially for Halloween, but it is adaptable.  There are alot of stamps in the QKD store that are like that.  You can make them any theme you want.  Just like Gypsy from yesterday, Mud Pies is one of those stamps.

This little dragon was origionally supposed to be making mud pies.  But, I decided she needed to expand her repetoire so she is now making pumpkin pies.  I colored her with colored pencils in more of a Halloween theme.  I fussy cut her out and pop dotted her onto a black lacey circle.  I cut out three pumpkins and colored them for accents.  The little poem I wrote myself and printed out on my computer.  All of the DPs are from my Halloween stash and are from Teresa Collins and DCWV.  The rhinestones add just the right touch.

I hope you have enjoyed my card for today and I hope to see you back tomorrow.  The theme for tomorrow is an adjective.  Yep, gives you a lot to think about doesn't it?  Have a great Monday!

Day 7

Good Morning friends.  Thanks for stopping by today.  As I mentioned in my post yesterday, today's theme is something that every cardmaker has in their stash....FLOWERS.  Yep that's right.  We all have tons of flowers...paper flowers, felt flowers, ribbon flowers, Prima flowers, Punched flowers, Die Cut flowers and now even rolled flowers.  There are tons to choose from for all our projects.

I chose a purple scheme for my card.  I realized after I completed it, that I could have entered it for the Purple day also.

One of these days, I will learn to either take better pictures or get a better scanner.  :)  For this card, I used a sketch from the Mojo Monday's archives.  I took a piece of  DP from the new Recollections set and cut it into 6- 3/4" x 5 1/4" pieces.  I adhered them vertically across the card base which a dark purple from Colorbok.  I stamped  Gypsy  with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her in with colored pencils and OMS.  I inked the edges with Victorian Velvet DI and matted the image on a piece of black card stock leaving a 2" border on the right side of the image.   I then added a piece of  light purple pleated ribbon to the right side.  I added two Prima purple leaves and different colored flowers from Recollections.  I used my hot glue gun to adhere them.  I added a little rhinestone center flower to the bottom left corner of the image and highlighted some of the jewerly she's wearing with a Sakura glitter pen in Clear Star.

Thanks again for stopping by today and I hope you are enjoying all the wonderful work that my DT sisters are showcasing.  Make sure to visit all the blogs so you don't miss anything.

Day 6 The Color Orange

Hello blogger friends.  Today's creation for the blog hop is all about the color orange.  Although I wasn't too hung up on this stamp at first, I have come to love the many ways you can design him.  He is very flexible and looks good in any color.  So today, this little thief is orange.

I used a woven paper background for this card.  It actually was much simpler than it looked.  I chose two patterns of paper, cut them to 1/2" and wove them together.  The candy corn images are from a set of stamps by Inkadinkadoo and I thought they went perfectly with the focal image.  I colored in Ill Gotten Goods with shades of orange.  The black candle goes great for Halloween.  He stole all those pieces of Candy Corn, so he got his treats.  He's a little bit creepy so the title reflects both ideas.  CREEPY TREATS.

Thanks for stopping in today and I sure hope you will be back tomorrow for Day 7.  A little hint for tomorrow's theme....something that most card makers have lots of in their stash..  Check back tomorrow for the answer.  Have a great day!

QKD Blog Hop Day 5

Welcome back to Day 5 of our 13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop.  Have you guys been checking out all the wonderful works of art that is being showcased?  Wowza.  It's fantastic.  My DT sisters have been rocking Halloween this week.

First things first..you should have arrived here from  Janie's blog.  If not, please go back to the Official Queen Kat Blog and start over.  I wouldn't want you to miss a thing.  Also, make sure you take advantage of the coupon code for 15% of your total order at the store.

Today's theme is SKELETONS/BONES.  When I was crusin' through the store, I found this stamp and knew it was the one I wanted to use.  I love it.  It represents what true love is all about.    Even after death, love always remains.  I am actually sending this one to my cousin and her husband for their anniversary.  She is into Tim Burton and Goth, so this card will make her laugh.

I apologize for the image distortion.  My camera isn't working and I had to try and scan it in.  I used a sketch from Mojo Monday to complete this card.  I think it turned out very well.  I began by stamping the images, which are two separate ones, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored in the image with colored pencils and OMS.  I used Nestabilities to die cut the image and DI Spiced Marmalade to highlight the circle.  I then cut out a scalloped circle to put behind the focal image.  The two DPs are from Recollections collection that came out last year.  The three paper roses I made using black and each side of the patterned paper.  I then covered them with Stickles.  I hand wrote the sentiment and added some rhinestones.  It was fairly simple.  The part that took the longest was die cutting everything.

Thanks for joining us today and we hope to see you back tomorrow for Day 6.  Just for a little hint, the theme for tomorrow can be a color, a drink or a fruit.  Happy Friday!

Mojo Monday

Hello there.  Today's card was made using the Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  I found this site on a fluke actually.  I was cruisin' through one of the blogs that I follow and found a link.  I checked out their site and fell in love.  This is my first week entering a challenge on the site.

Here is the sketch that we needed to follow.

Here's the card that I made from that sketch.

I also entered this card into the Outlawz Color Challenge for this week.  The focal image is a freebie from Beccy's Place.  I used colored pencils and OMS to color in the image then used a yellow Sakura glitter pen to color in the outside frame of the image.  I made the little flower using a 2" scalloped paper punch from Fiskars.  All the papers and card stock came from my stash.

Thanks for checking out my first entry for the Mojo Monday Challenge Blog.  I hope you all have a great day and God bless.

Created with Love Challenge

Hello Everyone.  Today I have a card that I made for the Created with Love challenge.  Our theme is Christmas.  I found this wonderful pyramid candle on the internet for free.  It was a lot of fun to color and put this together.  This is the first pyramid card I have ever done and I think it turned out pretty cute.

I used my colored pencils and a Sakura Clear Star glitter pen to color in the images.  I then cut them out using my Nestabilities Classic Circles.  I used two layers of foam tape to seperate each layer.  I used a green and gold DP and stamped the sentiment in TCP Gold.  I used a piece of red and a piece of gold rope ribbon and tied a bow in the middle.  The longest part was coloring in all four images.

Thanks for stoppin in to day to take a gander at my Christmas card.  God bless you all and have a great Thursday.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We, as ladies, need to fully aware of this.  Even though it is one of the most curable forms of cancer, it still takes thousands of lives every year.  Please be aware of your bodies.  Make sure that you get your annual check up and do the monthly at home exam.  If find anything, and I do mean anything, unusual, get to the doctor as soon as possible.  I had my own scare a couple of years ago when doing my exam at home.  I found a lump in my left breast.  Talk about freaking out.  I made an appointment with my doctor, had a mammogram and an ultrasound.  Thank God mine was just a calcium build up in a milk duct.  After having three aunts suffer through breast cancer, I don't take any chances.  You shouldn't either.

So, in awareness of this issue, the Greeting Card challenge over on the Outlawz for this week is Breast Cancer Awareness.  Our cards had to have something to do with this theme.  I found a too cute image over at Beccy's Place and knew I had to use it.

Too cute, right??  I love it.  The DP paper is actually a baby girl sentiment page, but the words on it fit perfectly with this challenge.  Words like Precious, Beautiful, Special, Happy, Future, Cute.  These are words that I would associate with a survivor of Breast Cancer.

Thank you so much for stopping in today as we honor those suvivors and remember those who fought a good fight until the end.  God bless you today.

QKD Blog Hop Day 4

Welcome back everyone.  Today's theme is  SPOOKY.  I love the stamp I picked for this card.  Even though it's supposed to be spooky, I think he's rather cute..hehe

Hopefully you made it here from Stephanie's blog.  If not, please go back to  QKD and start from the beginning so you don't miss anything.  You never know what you might see.

Also, just for this blog hop, Vikki has given a coupon to help you save some  money on the stamps you've seen so far, plus all the ones you will see in the coming days.  It's also good for anything in the store.  You should really take advantage of it.  Just add the code from the ticket to the promo/coupon box during the checkout.

Now, on to today's card.

This stamp is called GRAVE DIGGER and is by Miss Megs I told ya'll he was cute didn't I?  This card was pretty simple to make.

How To Make:
1.  Use a black card base in the standard A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")
2.  Trim a piece of red card stock to 4" x 5 1/4".
3.  Stamp image on white card stock with black ink and color in using the coloring medium of your choice.  I chose  colored pencils and OMS.  I also chalked the sky.
4.  Ink the edges of the focal image.  I used DI Vintage Photo.
5.  Trim a piece of black card stock to 3 3/4" x 4".  Then a piece of white card stock 1/4" smaller and your DP 1/4" smaller than the white.  I chose the bat DP from Recollections Haunted Estates collection.
6.  Mat all pieces together and adhere to the card base.  Using pop dots, add your focal image to the bottom left corner.  Notch out your sentiment, edge with black ink and adhere to the top left corner of the image.
7.  Embellish.  I had a set of skulls and bones stickers from a few years ago that I got a Michael's so I used those since our little guy is playing in a graveyard.  I added some holographic rhinestones from the same set just for kicks.

There you go.  All the instructions to make this cute little SPOOKY card.  Join us tomorrow for Day 5 to see what the DT comes up with.  Remember to start on the Official Queen Kat Blog so you don't miss any of the fabulous projects.  Have a great day!

QKD Blog Hop Day 3

Welcome back everyone.  The blog hop is just a hoppin' away.  I have looking at the blogs and I have to tell you..I have found some beautiful projects.  I hope you all are keeping up.

I'm glad that you found my blog, but to take care of some housekeeping first, you should have hopped here from Maria's blog.  If you didn't, please return to the QKD Official Blog just to make sure you didn't miss out on anything.

Also, here is a great coupon that is good through the end of the blog hop for 15% off in the store.  Make sure you enter the code during the checkout to get your discount.

So, today's theme is the COLOR PURPLE.  I knew I had to do this day, because purple is one of my most favorite colors.  You can do anything with purple.  Today's card features a new stamp called Flip Top Frankie which is being released today.  He's too cute and has a very confused look upon his face.  I think he might be in sugar shock..

I used a Mojo Monday sketch for this cute little guy.  I think he turned out cute in purple.

To make this card:
1. Stamp image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Using the coloring medium of your choice, color Frankie.  I used colored pencils and OMS.   Fussy cut out Frankie
2.  Using Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Circles Large, cut out two circles that are next to each other in your package.  I used orange cardstock for the smaller one, which I embossed.  I used a sheet of DP from my stash for the larger circle.  It is a mottled purple.
3.  Cut a piece of lime green card stock into a 3x3 square.  Cut a piece of purple card stock into a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2" rectangle.  Cut a piece of orange cardstock to 1/2" x 2 1/2" and notch one end.
4.  Cut your background paper to 4" x 5 1/4".  Ink the edges.  I used DI Vintage Photo.   The card base is orange as is a standard A2 size card (5 1/2" x 4 1/4")
5.  Using some Halloween or coordinating ribbon, wrap it around the DP and tie a small bow to the right side of the card.
6.  Attach your back ground paper to the card base.  Lay the purple card stock at and angle and attach.  The lime green piece is turned sideways and centered on the DP.
7.  Apply your greeting to the notched strip of orange.  I hand wrote my sentiment, but you can add whatever sentiment you like.
8.  Put your circles together with ATG and using pop dots, attach Frankie to the center.  Lay your focal image on the card towards the left side and place the sentiment strip under it until you have it where you want it.  Remove the focal image and attach the sentiment.  Using pop dots, attach Frankie.

And there you have it.  Flip Top Frankie is complete.  I hope you enjoyed stopping by and checking out my creation for today.  Be sure to stop back in tomorrow for Day 4.  Thanks so much.

QKD Blog Hop Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of the Queen Kat Design's Blog Hop.  I hope you have seen some creative and wonderful works of art so far.  My design team sisters are very creative.

Before we get started with my card for today, I want to make sure you are following the hop in the correct order.  You should have arrived here from Stephanie's blog.  If not, please go back to the Official QKD blog and start from the beginning.  I want to make sure you don't miss anything.

The second thing I want to share with you before I reveal my card today is this coupon.  It will save you 15% off your next order at the QKD Store.  Use the code on the coupon in the checkout and you will see your saving.  Vikki has some wonderful stamps and accessories over in the store, so when you are done hopping for today, you should check it out.

Today's theme is BATS.  I actually forgot to order a bat stamp when I placed my order for this hop, so I had to improvise.  The stamp I used I have showcased before, but I wanted you guys to see how versatile this stamp can be.  It's called Vacation Cottage by Catherine Swinford.  I showcased it as a Christmas Card and as a Thanksgiving Card.  Now, you are going to see it as a Halloween Card.    This stamp has so many possibilities that I think it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Didn't it come out cute?  This was one of the easier cards I have made for the hop.  I pulled quite a few things from my stash to use.  It's pretty clean and simple, but still packs a punch.

To make this card:
1.  Use a standard size card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").  I used Basic Black from Stampin' Up
2.  Cut a piece of DP to 4"x 5 1/4" for the background.  I chose the bat pattern from Recollections Halloween pack.  Ink the edges.  Cut a piece of coordinating ribbon  to 4 1/2" and adhere to the middle of the DP.  Take another piece of ribbon about 3" long and tie a bow around the part already on the DP.
3.  Stamp your image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, or whatever your favorite black ink is.  Color in your image.  I used Spectrum Noir alcohol pens and little bit of glitter gel pen for highlight.
4.  Trim you image to the size that you would like it.  Cut a mat 1/4" larger than your image. Ink the edges of you image.  I used DI Vintage Photo.  Mat the image.
5.  Using pop dots, place your focal image to the left side of the card, evenly spacing all around it.
6.  Take a piece of scrap paper that has bat images on it.  I used a piece from the Recollections Haunted Estates pad.  I fussy cut out three of the bats.  Using little pieces of pop dots, attach them to the image randomly.
7.  Attach your embellishments.  I had these little rhinestone spiders in my stash.  I found them at either Michael's or AC Moore a couple of years ago.  I lined them up going down the right side and one in the top right corner of the image.

So, it's that simple.  If you don't have any DP with bats on it, you can always use other bat embellishments like brads, stickers, or felties.  Just remember to pop dot them.

Thanks for stopping by for Day 2 of our 13 Days of Halloween Blog Hop.  I hope you are having fun and seeing some new ideas that you would like to try.  Now, it's time to move on to the QKD Store for a little browsing and a little shopping.  Remember to use your code for a 15% discount on your entire order.  Have a great day.
