Let's Kick Up Our Heels

It's Friday!! It's Friday!! Thank God it's Friday!!  I have had a hard week friends.  My baby girl has been sick all week.  It started on Sunday with a headache and two trips to the ER, a fever of 104 and some antibiotics later, we are on the downward slope.  Kierstynne has an infection wreaking havoc on her system.  We still aren't sure what kind of infection, but it's there.  Praise the Lord we were able to get her diagnosed and on the proper meds.  She is headache and fever free today, so it's going to be a great day!
Nothing like being behind the first week of school. LOL

So, with that being said, I have a new challenge for you guys over at QKR Stampede.  This week, the challenge is  "Kick Up Your Heels".  You must use an image of a horse, donkey, unicorn, goat, etc.  If you chose to play along and win, you will get 2 images from the QKR Store, but, if you use a QKR Image, you will win 5, that's right, 5 images.

Here's the card that I made for the challenge:

I used digi image #24102 and sentiment #14012.  I used shades of gray and black to color in the donkey with colored pencils.  I added some shadows in black underneath.  Some of the shadows were already on the digi that Maribeth drew, but I added some more. The ground and sky are done with chalks. I trimmed down the image and sentiment, inked them with DI Vintage Photo and matted them on Black Recollections card stock.  The card base is also made from the same black card stock.  The DP is DCWV Boyhood collection and each piece is matted on the black card stock.  I didn't add any embellies because I wanted this one for a masculine card and you know the men in our lives don't like alot of frills. Well, most of them don't. LOL

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope y'all enjoy your weekend.  God bless ya and I hope to see some of your work over at QKR Stampede.

Digi Darla Newsletter Example

Hi there.  Thanks for stopping in today.  I have a card for y'all that I made for the Digi Darla Newsletter.  For those of you who don't get the newsletter, all you have to do is stop over at Digi Darla's Blog and sign up.  You will also find our latest challenge and winners of the previous challenges there.

To make this card, I used the Spotlight Technique. There are many videos on youtube on how to do this technique and I believe that Beatte has one on Splitcoast Stampers also.  I know that GinaK has one on her blog.

So, to start, I printed out two images exactly the same size.  This image is called Amaryllis and Butterfly.  I picked what part of the image I wanted to spotlight and colored it in with colored pencils.  I then used my Classic Square and Scalloped Classic Square Nestabilities to die cut the colored image.  I matted the image onto a black mat and adhered it over the same exact spot on the uncolored image.  I die cut the main image with Nestabilities and embossed it then matted it onto some black card stock.  The papers are from American Crafts. I tied a bit of sheer ribbon round the middle and added the sentiment to the corner.

I love the spotlight technique.  I think it would be beautiful on a wedding card.  Maybe an idea for my BIL's wedding in September..hhhuuummm...

Thanks again for stopping in today and I hope y'all have a great day.  God bless.

Owlet Set by Beccy Muir

Hello my friends.  Thanks for stopping in today.  I have another card that showcases the very cute Owlet Set that Beccy Muir has created.

I focused on just two of the little owls this time.  I colored them with my colored pencils and OMS and then cut them out.  All of the papers are from the Colorbok Hootenanny collection.  I am going to have to buy another set of papers because I love them so much. :)The hot pink card stock is Recollections. I found the heart shaped gems in the bottom of my gem bin and thought they would be perfect for this card.  Adding the sentiment finished off the card.

If you would like to purchase this adorable set, click Here to go to the store.   Thanks again for stopping in and I hope y'all have a great day.  God bless.

Digi Darla Mondays

Good morning friends.  Today is Kierstynne's first day of school.  Busy, busy.  We have a back to school meeting at noon so I'm posting early.

This week at Digi Darla our challenge is "Anything Goes with a Twist--use a digi stamp, bow, and at least one butterfly."

I cheated a bit and used a paper that had bows on it. The digi is called Summerfly Flowers.  I colored them with Chromatix Alcohol Pens and added some Sakura Clear Star pen.  I stamped the sentiment from a set of words from The Paper Studio.  I love this sentiment set because you can create your own phrases and there are words for every occasion.

The card base is standard A2 size and is SU Old Olive. I found that beautiful flowered paper in my stash and thought it worked beautiful for this card.  I matted the image onto the same Old Olive card stock and used pop dots to adhere it to the card.

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  I hope to see some of your creations entered into our challenge this week.  Have a great Monday and God bless.

Fridays with QKR Stampede

Welcome back for another Friday challenge with QKR Stampede.  Our challenge this week is "Anything Goes".  Oh the possibilities.

For my card, I chose to use Digi #8206 Spicy Pepper and Digi #8205 Hot Pepper.

I began by printing off my images onto Neenah card stock and coloring them with colored pencils and OMS.  I fussy cut them out and used pop dots to add them to the card.  The card base is Recollections Red. I used some papers from my stash and matted them all onto Black Recollections card stock.  I printed out the sentiment from my Word Processing program and matted that onto some black card stock as well.  I added a bit of Sakura Clear Star to the rose and drew three hearts in each corner.

I hope y'all will join us this week for this easy but fun challenge.  The prize??   2 digi stamps from the store, but if you use a QKR image, you will get to pick 5.

Thanks for stopping in and have a wonderful weekend.  God bless y'all.

Dr. Digi at The Crafter's Cafe

Good Morning friends.  I hope y'all are having a great week.  Thanks for stopping by today to see what I have been up to.

This week at The Crafter's Cafe we are using Dr. Digi images for a "Bling It Up" challenge.  Team B has come up with some great cards using a variety of images.  I chose I'm Dreaming of a Wide Christmas to create my card.

I began by printing off the image and sentiment onto Neenah card stock.  I then added color with colored pencils and OMS.  I added some Diamond Stickles to the mistletoe and some Liquid Pearls to her hat.  I rounded the corners and matted the image on a panel of Black Recollections card stock.  The card base is SU Basic Black and the corners have been rounded on that also.  I used three different papers from the Bright and Jolly Recollections stack.  Adding the sentiment on an angle and some Red gems from Queen and Co. finished off this hilarious card.

I do hope that y'all will stop by and join in our challenge this week. Have a wonderful day and God bless y'all.

Monday Monday

Hello there.  Welcome to Monday.  How many of you remember the song "Monday Monday" by the Mama's and the Papa's?  I do.  Today is one of those Monday Mondays.  One week and counting until the first day of school.  I received all of Kierstynne's books and school supplies last week.  She didn't even want to look at them.  She told me she had one more week and she wasn't looking until then.  It was like Christmas for me.  I love opening the boxes and looking at all the new stuff.  Not her. :)

Today I have three cards for y'all.  Each one is for a different design team, but they are all going to be in the same post.  So, let's get started.

First up is my card for Digi Darla.  Our challenge this week is "Birthdays".  What a range of ideas for this one.  I used "Birthday Cake #3 and Birthday Blessings" to create my card.

To begin, I printed off the image and sentiment onto Neenah card stock and colored the cake with Chromatix Alcohol Pens.  I added a bit of Sakura Clear Star Pen for some sparkle.  I trimmed down the image and rounded the corners.  I did the same with the sentiment. The card base is  Recollections and the DPs are DCWV.  I added some yellow ribbon from my stash. Three little yellow brads and three pink brads finished off the card.

Next up is Melonheadz Friends.  Our two week challenge is "Back to School".  Very fitting for this time of year.  I used Nikki's "Math" bundle to make this card.  I really like this set because it showcases children from all walks of life.  Each of us is different and unique in our own way and I love that she showed that in this set.

I began by printing off the set onto Neenah card stock and coloring them with colored pencils and OMS.  I then fussy cut each little child out. The card base is Recollections Red and is 5.5" square.  I used papers from a Paper Studio pack that I bought at Hobby Lobby for $2.99. I wrote math equations on the lined paper for some added interest.  The children are popped up with pop dots and the two in the front have two layers of pop dots.

Since my daughter had such a hard time with math last year, I think I will give this card to her on her first day back to school.  I'm going to write some encouraging words to her inside.

Finally, we have a new set over at Beccy's Place.  Beccy designs the most beautiful images. She has a God given talent, that's for sure.  Our set this time is the little "Owlet Set" that features some of the cutest little owls.  You know owls are all the rage right now.  You can find them everywhere, in all shapes, sizes and colors.

Here's a peek at the whole colored set.  Cute right?
And here's the card I created with the set:

I used a hot pink card stock from Colorbok to make the 5.5" square card base.  The papers are from the Colorbok Hootenanny pack.  I colored the owls with colored pencils and OMS.  I then fussy cut them out and pop dotted them onto the card.  Isn't this a fun little birthday card?

I hope y'all enjoyed your visit today.  Stop on over at each of the three blogs for some more eye candy and fun challenges. Have a wonderful Monday and God bless y'all.

Congratulations, Kelly and John

Welcome back friends.  Today is my soon to be sister in law's bridal shower.  My youngest brother in law, John, and his bride to be, Kelly, are getting married in September.  We are all so excited to have Kelly as part of our family.  She is such a sweet, loving person and the most important part, she loves my BIL with all her heart.

I made this sweet card for her shower for today.

The umbrella is a Digi Darla image and can be found in her store.  I printed out two of the umbrellas, one on white card stock and one on a cream colored patterned paper.  I then cut out both and paper pieced them together.  I used a doily that I inked with DI Antique Linen.  The purple back ground paper is from DCWV.  I made a card base from SU Vanilla card stock.  I used pop dots to add the umbrella.  I added two stick pens under the sentiment which I printed out.

I sure hope Kelly likes her card. I know I enjoyed making it for her.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope y'all have a great weekend.  God bless.

Saturdays at Paper A La Mode

Happy Saturday folks.  Today is a busy day for me.  My daughter is twirling in the Pittston Tomato Festival Parade this morning, but I won't get to go because I have a bridal shower for my youngest brother in law's fiance.  My husband is taking Kierstynne to the parade.  They will be walking about 3 miles today.  Better her than me..lol

Our challenge this week over atThe Outlawz Paper A La Mode group is Birthdays.  Who doesn't need tons of birthday cards right?  You don't have to make a card for PAM, you can make any creation your heart desires. I chose to make a card using two cute little fishes from Opal Manor.

I colored these fish with my colored pencils and added some Sakura Clear Star pen to give them a bit of birthday sparkle.  My papers are from The Paper Studio, which is Hobby Lobby's brand.  I printed out the sentiment and then added Sakura to the letters.  Adding a few gems from Queen and Co finished off this fintastic birthday card.

I hope you will join us over at the Outlawz Paper A La Mode this week and show us your birthday creations.

Have a great weekend and God bless y'all.

Fridays with QKR Stampede

Good Morning.  I'm a bit late posting this card.  We had tent revival at our church all week, so I'm way behind on everything.  It was a wonderful week of spending time in the Lord's presence and hearing the Word so it was totally worth being a bit behind.

This week, our challenge at QKR Stampede is "Don't Bug Me".  Your challenge is to use images of bugs.  We have some great images in the store and I chose to use the Splatted Bug and the Sometimes sentiment to make my card.

Don't you feel this way sometimes?  I know I do.  I used two DPs from a new 6x6 paper pad from DCWV that I got on sale at Michael's for $1.79. The yellow and black card stock are Recollections and the black card base is SU.  I used some ribbon from my stash and those cute little bees are from Jolie's.

I hope y'all will join us for this fun challenge this week. Have a great weekend and God bless.

Digi Darla Newsletter

Hi there.  Thanks for stopping by to check up on me.  I have a card for ya today that is featured in the Digi Darla Newsletter.  If you don't get the newsletter, go here and sign up.  Every two weeks you will get it delievered to your email inbox.  Inside you will find some DT inspiration as well as the latest specials, sales and winners of the challenges.

For this newsletter, I used this cute little guy, Naughty Kitty Fishbowl, and it can be found here.

I used colored pencils and OMS to add some life to this naughty kitty.  After coloring, I trimmed down the image and matted it onto a piece of Gray card stock from SU.  Both of the DPs are from a scrapbooking calendar that I bought in like 2007.  They are old, but I really liked them and thought they went along good with the image.  I matted the two strips onto the same Gray card stock as the base and mat for the image.  The sentiment is from HOTP Yummy Kitchen set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I added a couple Glitter Dots to the card for some sparkle and used Gloss Accents for the fish bowl.  After letting the Gloss  Accents dry, I put the card together.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope yall join your weekds.  God bless each and every one of you.

Monday's Challenge at Digi Darla

Happy Monday!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I am so grateful for your visit.  This week at Digi Darla our challenge is Fins, Feathers or Fur.  I chose Feathers for this uber fun challenge.  I used the Flowery Owl on Branch digi.

I used BIC Markers to color in this image.  I used a Spectrum Noir pen to add some shadow to the image. I then cut it down and used my corner rounder on the image.  I then inked the image with DI Vintage Photo. The DPs are from Colorbok's Hootenanny stack.  I used my Fiskars Scalloped Punch on the Striped paper and the Pink card stock.   I used a Green card stock from Recollections for the card base.  Adding some gems from Michael's finished up the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope to see y'all enter a card for the challenge this week.  God bless y'all.

Saturday Surprise at Paper A La Mode

Hello there.  I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday.  I am scheduling this post Friday night because I have a busy busy day today.  We are having Gospel Fest at our church today.  It's a wonderful day on our church grounds.  We have worship bands from different churches come and perform.  There are preachers bringing the Word.  We also sell hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and snacks with all the money going to missions.  I am super excited because this year I get to have a table set up to sell my cards.  I am donating all the money I make to missions.  I hope I do good. :)

This week's challenge is "Best Friends".  I did something a bit different for my card.  I used a bridal image to make my best friends card.

This sweet image is from Opal Manor.  I colored it with my colored pencils and OMS.  The DPs are from a new stack that I got at Michael's and is from DCWV.  The card base is a Deep Purple from Colorbok.  I found this pretty satin ribbon in my stash.  I printed out the sentiment and matted it on a piece of the left over card stock from the card design.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I truly appreciate it.  I hope that you guys will join us over at the Outlawz Paper A La Mode for this week's challenge.  God bless y'all.

Friday Challenge at QKR Stampede

Happy Friday!  I'm so glad that you could join me today.  Our challenge this week at QKR Stampede is No Squares.  You must use circles, ovals, triangles or any shape other than a square or rectangle.   I went with circles.  To make this card, I used Digi # 14016 Queen Bee and sentiment #14712.

I don't have any large circle dies so I grabbed a saucer out of my cabinet and used that for a stencil for the base.  To make the circle DP, I measured 1/2" in from the line I drew using the saucer.  I have to get me some larger dies.  I could have used my Cricut, but I didn't feel like pulling it out.

I colored the digi with my colored pencils and new OMS that I got on Monday.  It's 100% better than the one I had.  I die cut the image with my Spellbinders Classic Circles and made the mat with Lacy Circles.  I used the same sets of dies for the sentiment.  I used pop dots to add the image to the card base.  The flowers are Recollections.

I hope that you can join us this week for this fun challenge.   See ya there!

God bless y'all.  Have a great Friday.

This sassy image is from Milk Coffee.   I used my colored pencils to add the color.  All of the papers are from my stash so I'm not sure who designed them.  The only one I know for sure is the very back one which is The Paper Studio.  The Light Pink card stock is Recollections.  I added some pink gems from Queen and Co to finish up the card.

Thanks for stopping in today.  Have a blessed day!

I used an Olive card stock from Recollections to make the card base.  The DP is from MME and the Light Green card stock is from Colorbok.  I ran it through the Swiss Dot EF for some texture.  I matted the image and sentiment on a very Dark Green Recollections card stock.  I used my colored pencils and OMS to give this cute little guy some life.

Beccy Muir Sets

Hi there.  Welcome back to my blog.  I'm so glad y'all took time to check out my work.  It truly means alot to me.  I thank God for each and every one of y'all.

I have some cards that I forgot to post that use Beccy Muir sets that have recently been released.  I'm not going to go through the details on how I made them here on this post.  If you would like to know how I did them, leave me a message and I will give you the deets.

The first ones I have for ya use the Country Florals Set.  This set has some really cute flower images as well as some darlin' ladybugs.

The next set is called Lacey Set.

I can't show the second card for this set because it hasn't been released on the blog.  But, stay tuned and it will be up next week.

There are some gorgeous sets coming out in the next few months from Beccy.  Owlet Set and some really pretty flower sets are coming up.  Make sure you check out Beccy's Place for these new releases as well as the ones to come.

Thanks again for stopping in.  God bless y'all.

New Designer at QKR Stampede.

Hello again my friends.  Thanks for taking time to stop in and see me.  I should have had this card posted last Friday but time got away from me again.

This is my first card for QKR Stampede.  I am so thrilled to be on their design team.  I just love all the quirky, cute stamps and sentiments.  Our challenge this week is Summer Fun.  I used image #24159 Sippin' Soda to make my card.

I printed out this cute little croc onto Neenah card stock and colored him with colored pencils and OMS.   I die cut him out with my Classic Circles Spellbinders.  I used Lacy Circles for the mat.  I used a piece of Black Recollections card stock for that.  I found this cute little sea paper with the yellow fish in my stash.  It is one of the first papers I bought when I started scrapbooking in 2003.  The brown and blue polka dot paper is DCWV and is matted onto a piece of the Recollections Black card stock.  I had this cool piece of corrugated white card stock in my stash and thought I would use it for this card.  I took DI Vintage Photo ink and colored it.  The card base is the same Black Recollections card stock and measures 5" square.   I had wrote the sentiment to finish off the card.

Thanks so much for stoppin' in today.  There is still time to join in the QKR Stampede challenge, Summer Fun.  Hope to see y'all there.  God bless y'all and have a great day!

Melonheadz Friends Monday Challenge

Welcome back friends, for the Melonheadz Friends Monday challenge.  Our challenge for the next two weeks is: Flowers Everywhere.  I was late posting my card to the DT blog because my husband was gone all weekend with his best friend.  They had their annual  "Man-cation" to Philadelphia.  They went to play golf and to see a Phillies game.  He got home yesterday and my mind turned to mush.  I was so excited to see him and missed him terribly.  I completely forgot to upload my card so it could be put on the blog this morning.  Hopefully it will be up later today.

I am so very excited.  I figured out how to straighten my pictures with my editing program.  I don't know why I can't take straight pictures, but mine always come out wonky.  Now, with my program, I can fix my wonky pictures.  I'm so excited..:).

So, to begin, I used the "In My Leafy Garden" bundle to make this card.  I printed out all the images and added the colors with colored pencils and OMS.  I bought a new OMS and I hate it.  I have to go to Wal-mart this afternoon and buy the one I always use.  The new one is very thick and white.  It doesn't work well at all.  You can see on my card how splotchy some of the images are.  It's not my coloring, it's the OMS.  But, I think it still turned out cute.

After coloring all the images, I cut them out.  I used another paper from The Paper Studio for the background.  I added alot of the elements with pop dots for added dimension.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up and I used a Fiskars Oval Scallop punch to make the cloud.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope y'all have a wonderfully blessed day and if y'all get a chance, stop by Melonheadz Friends and join in the new challenge.

Mondays with Digi Darla

Good Morning.  Today's card is for Digi Darla's challenge for this week.  Our challenge is to use your favorite Ice Cream flavor to determine the colors on your card.  What a great challenge, right?  The ideas are endless.  I chose to use Rainbow Sherbert.  I love sherbert and the Rainbow Sherbert is so good, especially on a hot summer day.

Here's my cute "Chrissy with Ice Cream" card.  To begin, I used a Lime Green card stock from Colorbok to make the 5.5" square card base.  The cute polka dot paper is from one of the package of paper I bought at Hobby Lobby on Friday.  I thought it worked perfectly for this card.  I colored the image with colored pencils and OMS.  I outlined it with a Spectrum Noir pen to give it a shadow.  I used Labels 10 Spellbinders to die cut the image and the sentiment as well as the two pink mats.  I ran the Pink Recollections mats through the Swiss Dots embossing folder.  I saw another card online that offset the mat and image and I loved the way it looked so I thought I would try it.  I absolutely love the way it turned out.  I will definitely be using this technique again.

I added a piece of green and pink ribbon from stash and added some The Paper Studio and Recollections flowers.  I added some Queen and Co clear Rhinestones to the center of the smaller flowers and the corners to finish off the card.

I hope to see y'all over at Digi Darla this week for this fun challenge.

Birthday Cards

Happy Monday Friends.  How is everyone today?  I have been working on cards all last week, but haven't had a chance to post any.  I have two that I am going to show on this post and then I have a few more that I will be posting today.

The first one I have for y'all today is one that I made for a friend's son.  His birthday party was Saturday and he turned 6.  He wanted a Lego themed party, so I thought I would get all crafty and make a Lego card for him.  I went to three different craft stores to find the right size circle punch to make the card.  I finally found it at Jo-Ann's and it was 40% off..yeah me!

To make this card, I cut different colors of Recollection card stock into 3"x2" rectangles and then punched out tons of circles.  I layered three circles together to make the snap together part.  I then made a card base that is 5" square from Basic Black SU card stock.  I added the "Lego's" in various directions and trimmed around the edges.  I hand wrote the sentiment, trimmed it down and matted it onto a piece of BB by SU card stock.  On the inside, I just added a 4.5" square piece of Green Recollections card stock, a 4" square piece of GP White card stock and a red Lego.

Killian loved his card and his mother was shocked that I made it for him.

The next birthday card I made this past week was for my BIL who turned 29 on the 2nd.  Last year I made him a motorcycle card so I didn't really want to do that again.  He is getting married in September so I didn't figure his fiance would be thrilled if I used Kenny K's  Biker Chick image.  I decided to use the Dr. Digi's Paint Roller image that was free last week.

I printed out three of the paint roller images and colored them with my BIC Markers.  I then used my Cutterbee Scissors to cut them out.  The papers I used are from The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.  I went there on Friday and they had sets of prepackaged paper, 50 sheets for $2.99.  I grabbed four.  They also had 12x12 packs for $4.99 so I got two of those.  There were some really nice designs in the packs.  These two that I used for the card were in the 8.5"x11" packs.  I made a card base from Basic Black SU card stock and cut the Rainbow paper to 4 1/8"x 5 3/8".  The Balloon paper is 2"x4" and the black mat is 2 1/8"x4 1/4".  I used pop dots to add the paint rollers and printed out the sentiment from my computer.  I trimmed down the sentiment, matted it on BB by SU card stock and adhered it to the card.  I didn't add any embellishments because my BIL isn't a glitzy type of guy.  The inside has layers of both papers and black card stock.  The inside sentiments says "Birthday Wishes to You" and I used, what has to be my favorite sentiment set of stamps, The Paper Studio's Clearly Said set.  It has words that you can put together and I just love it.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope y'all will stay tuned for the next posts that I will have up throughout the day.  God bless y'all.

Last post as Guest Designer at Sweet Stamps

Hello friends.  I am so glad you stopped in today.  I wanted to share with y'all the last post of my Guest Designer Spot with Sweet Stamps.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with them.  I was able to pick out some great products to work with.

This week's challenge is Christmas Tags.  I don't make too many tags, but I enjoyed making these.  I wanted to them look a bit country so I decided to paper piece them and add some faux stitching.

The stamp set I used is called Mr. and Mrs. Snow Duo.  I used Gina K's Heavy Base Weight Ivory for the base of the snowpeople and MME DP for the elements. I didn't want to add too many embellishments because I wanted to let the snow people shine.  I did add some black faux stitching around the snow people.  To finish off the tags, I added the Merry Christmas sentiment and some Red Jute Twine.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope y'all enjoy your Thursday.  God bless.
